Baico Publishing invites you to submit your manuscript for an assessment, we look forward to making your publishing experience a pleasant journey.
We are dedicated to reading your manuscript from cover to cover in order to make a fair decision as to whether or not to proceed with entering into a publishing contract with you. This procedure ensures that your work meets our selection criteria.
Should Baico accept your manuscript for publishing after reading it, you will need to follow our publishing guidelines as outlined on our Publishing Services webpage. If we accept your work after reading your manuscript but you decide not to enter into a contract with Baico, then you incur an administration fee of Cdn $100.00 plus a reading fee of Cdn $1.00 per page (single line spacing) which must be paid immediately on Baico returning your manuscript to you.
If you are interested in submitting your manuscript to us, kindly proceed with the following instructions:
How to submit your manuscript:
- We accept all types of manuscripts in English and in French on a wide range of topics excluding any literature that promotes religious, racial or cultural discrimination, hate, pornography and any such offensive material.
- Please send your manuscript to us on 8 ½ x 11 inch paper, double-spaced, accompanied by your legal name, mailing address and phone number.
- Depending on the number of pages you submit, it may take a couple of weeks to a few months before hearing from us on whether or not we are interested in publishing your work.
- If you have a children’s book, you do not have to submit the illustrations unless you already have them done. We are interested first in the storyline of your manuscript, then we look at the illustrations.
- You are required to submit with your manuscript, a completed non-disclosure form that will protect your intellectual property.
- Please send manuscript and all other documents required by mail or deliver in person to our office.
Once we have read your manuscript and would like to publish your work, our process is outlined as follows:
1. Editing of Manuscript
Baico Publishing will advise you of any recommended changes that we believe will benefit and enhance your work. We do not change the content or style of your story, nor do we offer editing services. You are responsible for ensuring that your manuscript is error free and for getting your work edited prior to submission to us for printing and distribution, if you so wish. However, Baico Publishing can recommend editors if desired.
2. Submission of Final Product
In order to proceed further with your manuscript, you will be required to sign a 3- year contract with Baico Publishing. You will be required to pay a formatting fee and a cover design fee on delivery of proof copy based on our price structure outlined below.

- A Hard Copy, single line spacing, Times New Roman 12. If there is any other font style and size used that you would like to maintain, please indicate details on your Hard Copy.

3. Pricing Structure

RETAIL PRICE OF BOOK:
Once the formatting is completed and we know the number of pages and format size of the book, a retail price will be determined based on market price of books with similar format size and number of pages.

COVER DESIGN FEES:
If Baico creates the cover of your book from scratch, depending on the complexity of the design, the cost to you is between Cdn.$250.00 and Cdn.$600.00 unless the cover is extremely complex then the cost could exceed Cdn $600.00
4. Production Stages
- Baico assigns an ISBN number, EAN Scan Code and Cataloguing in Publication Data.
- Once formatting and cover design have been completed, you have proof read the book, corrections have been made by Baico and you have paid all your required fees, your book goes into printing.
- Author receives a free copy of the book and is required to purchase the first 100 copies at a 50% discount on retail price plus GST.
- Baico will deposit a copy of the publication to the National Library of Canada which protects your copyright.
- Baico will retain a reasonable inventory of your book in order to satisfy your needs and those of the Commercial Network.
- No re-prints of your book will be done without your prior written permission.
5. Marketing, Selling & Distribution
- At Baico’s physical bookstore, you have the option to rent a bookshelf at Cdn$5.00 per month. You are required to stock the shelf with your own inventory and you will be entitled to receive from Baico 70% of the Retail Price of the books sold at our physical store.

- Baico’s online store
- www.chapters.ca - We also send review copies to book buyers and reviewers in order to maximize the exposure of your published book.
- We offer specialty services as listed on our Specialty Services webpage.
6. Royalties
You will receive Royalties based on 10% of the retail price of your books sold to the Commercial Network. Royalty percentage may increase depending on the size of future print- runs that exceeds 1,000 copies and based on the sales arising thereof.
Royalties will be paid to you every 3 months.
